How to Build a Brand That Blooms
Multicultural brand strategy and business development for founders, creatives, and international teams.
I started my former company Studio Ochenta, with a slogan. It was “Raising voices across cultures.” The mission: Make the international stories no one is making, in different languages. The vision: An audio Pixar. The values: Making sure each story is told authentically across languages with people from each culture.
The product? Ideas.
That’s right, my business was selling creative ideas, that got turned into podcasts, documentaries, audiobooks, coloring books, social video campaigns, etc. Nowhere in my mission, vision, and values do you see that we were a “podcast production studio.” We were so much more. That’s the power of a good brand story. I was selling my multicultural POV, which is why I named the company Ochenta, 80 in Spanish, after my old home address in the multicultural mecca of Queens, New York. Even running the company out of Paris, France, with a Spanish language name didn’t stop the brand from becoming internationally recognized. Because the story came first. Anyone who has heard of Ochenta knows me, my background, and the slogan.
Maraviya
Maraviya is my current project, born from my desire to share that expertise with entrepreneurs and help creatives around the world own their brand story and grow with confidence. The name comes from the Maravilla, a Colombian flower, and it also happens to mean ‘a marvelous thing. The story of this brand is simple: it’s about planting a seed and growing, all over again to become something worthy of the word.
It is my 2nd company, with all the international mission, vision and values of Ochenta channeled into human connections. After I left the podcast business, I briefly considered becoming a florist. This is my way of building a garden anyway. I hope that each project I help bloom becomes a driver for change in the world in some small way, whether it changes someone’s life or brings a much-needed product to the world.

🌱 Brand Roots: Clarify Who You Are
As someone who’s had to navigate the international business world with a unique background: Colombian-American radiojournalist, turned podcaster, turned French Resident, turned CEO…I know personal branding is super important. We are constantly redefining ourselves for a new job, a new project, a new social connection. But having a clear answer to the “who are you?” question is more than just calling yourself whatever your “job title” is at the moment. It’s about having a clear mission, vision, and values, because every freelancer is a brand, even if they don’t see it that way. The same goes for small businesses. Gone are the days when you could just start a company with a fun name and no backstory. Having an authentic brand vision and mission is key to having a sustainable brand that lasts, especially in AI land.
The Maraviya Roots package is a personalized Brand Audit & Development Guide designed to help you understand where your brand stands out today and what you need to stand out tomorrow based on your unique goals: whether it’s landing a new gig, starting a new side hustle, or taking your small business to the next level.
This package is about connecting, entrepreneur-to-entrepreneur. It consists of three one-on-one sessions, and if you’re in Paris, we can do those in person. The goal is to get to know you and your dreams, and give you the tools you need to make them happen.
Session 1: Getting to know you - A conversation in which we learn about what makes your skills and talents unique. I’ll also share a full audit of your brand identity as it stands today (website, social media, messaging, tone) and identify your goals and timeline for achieving them.
Session 2: Let’s tell the story - A conversation in which we discuss your new brand story and positioning statement with actionable recommendations for visuals and voice (Content calendar with sample posts, or a community building plan). At the end of this session, you’ll have a 3–6 month roadmap that you’re happy with to grow your visibility and confidence.
Session 3: Digest and Build - Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is your brand; you need time to think about how it feels, if there are tweaks or adjustments in your goals etc. I offer a check-in 1 month or 3 months after the second session, depending on your preference, to see how you’ve been following all actionable items, what was difficult to do, and identify what you need to cross the finish line.

I’m a creative too. I know how difficult the sales and monetization side of business building is. Its just not the priority when you’re working on the award-winning show, or book, or work of art. Thankfully, in over a decade of freelancing and then running my own creative business for 6 years, I learned just how simple it is to “sell the thing.” Of course, you’ve probably already got a social media following or maybe a nice sales funnel going, but if your posts don’t go viral, or if AI switches up the web traffic, you’re stuck. Today, all businesses have to create reliable, sustainable revenue and have more direct contact with their consumers than ever before.
The Maraviya Bloom pacakage is a Brand growth and monetization strategy specifically made for early-stage startups, small businesses, and folks with side hustles. This package is about making a living from your business or creative idea. You already have an incredible brand story, the goal here is to turn your creative vision into a sustainable and monetizable brand. Brand Bloom also consists of 3 sessions (online or in person), which include:
Session 1: Assessment - We’ll go over a complete audit of your brand ecosystem and audience, discuss your current monetization model and growth opportunities. We end this session with clear goals in mind and an understanding of where you see the brand going, whether that’s hitting a specific target number of sales, starting a fundraising round, or expanding to new markets.
Session 2: Action Plan -We’ll discuss options for optimized monetization and partnership strategy with 3 potential partners identified (and introduced), along with product development ideas and an offline community-building plan to ensure your brand is strong both online and off. At the end of this session, we agree on a 3-6 month roadmap to scale your brand and revenue.
Session 3: Make it Happen - We’ll have check-ins at 1 month and 3 months with your internal business/growth lead to ensure they are meeting KPIs and provide additional support if needed to achieve your goals. *Optional: Add a “Brand Bloom in Action” package to bring this strategy to life.

Maraviya cultivate: Bring Your Vision to Life
For the person who says, thank you for the powerpoint, but how am I supposed to do all this? (Especially the solopreneur). I see you. I’ve been in your shoes. It’s why I’ve developed this package right here. Brand Bloom in Action takes you from strategy to execution with continued support over 3 months, or 6 months, depending on the scope of your project.
The Maraviya Cultivate package is the “make-it-real” package for those who are already pretty advanced in their business and want to take it to the next level, quickly and efficiently, with an international business expert on your team.
The continued support is offered in two ways:
Business Development and Partnerships Lead: Lead generation, pitch development, deck creation, networking, bimonthly sessions to track business development progress based on clearly defined KPIs. A full brand audit each quarter to ensure your brand has consistent growth.
Brand Strategy Lead: Creative direction and content development with your in-house social/ marketing team, and additional support on business communications, speaking opportunities, and managing general brand messaging for all copy associated with your brand.
